world news now Vital oxygen supplies to treat patients sick with Covid and other critical illnesses, and war injuries, are running dangerously low in Ukraine, the World Health Organization (WHO) has said. Trucks have been unable to transport supplies from plants to hospitals within the country, including the capital Kyiv, meaning available stocks could run out within the next 24 hours. The WHO said it is working with partners to get urgent shipments through Poland. "The oxygen supply situation is nearing a very dangerous point," WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus and WHO Regional Director for Europe Hans Kluge said. The WHO said several manufacturing plants in Ukraine were also facing shortages of zeolite – a crucial, mainly imported chemical product that is needed to make safe medical oxygen. Hospital services are also under threat from electricity and power shortages. Earlier, the Nigerian government condemned the treatment of Nigerians and other Africans by Ukrainian guards on the border with Poland, where Africans complained of discrimination and of being prevented from crossing over. Forensic experts said the crime scene appeared to "have just been cleaned" before their arrival but that bullet holes in two cars and a motorcycle and multiple bullet casings strewn across the road suggested a shooting had taken place. Local security officials told journalists that they feared as many as 17 people could have been killed but the prosecutor's office has not yet confirmed any deaths.

A number of heavily armed men take position in front of them, gunshots are heard ringing out and once the smoke from the gunfire dissipates, those who had been lined up against the wall can no longer be seen. It is not the first time this year that a wake has become the scene of a deadly killing. Earlier this month, a total of nine mourners were killed in Ciudad Juárez when gunmen targeted the wake of a man who had died in prison , and then returned to shoot dead more people at the same man's funeral. Both the attack in Ciudad Juárez and Sunday's shooting in Michoacán have been blamed on rivalries between local criminal gangs.
